Online Voting Open for ‘Paint the Plow’ Program in Warren and Forest Counties

Public Invited to Pick Their Favorite Plow through Social Media Campaign

Oil City, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) northwest region invites the public to vote on five plows decorated by Warren and Forest county high school students as part of the “Paint the Plow” program.

“Paint the Plow” is a statewide outreach aimed at promoting winter driving safety and fostering appreciation for high school art programs.

Earlier this year, PennDOT invited high school students in Warren and Forest counties to paint plow blades based on the regional theme “Mascots.”

Teens from Warren, Eisenhower, Sheffield, Youngsville, and East Forest high schools participated.

“When the schools first expressed interest in decorating the plow blades, we did not realize what works of art the students would produce. We truly appreciate all their hard work,” said Warren/Forest County Maintenance Manager Adam Elms. “We also hope the program gave the teens a greater understanding of the size of plow blades and trucks, and they will use that knowledge to make safer decisions whenever driving near our roadway equipment.”

Members of the public can vote for their favorite plow through the PennDOT Facebook page (@PennsylvaniaDepartmentofTransportation). Pictures of each plow are posted online in the Warren & Forest photo album.

The plow photo that receives the most “Reactions” between November 2, 2017, and November 13, 2017, will be deemed the “Fan Favorite.” Each “Reaction,” regardless of whether it is a like, love, haha, wow, sad, angry, will count as one vote. Voting will close at noon, November 13, 2017.
