The Corry girls high school team improved to 6-0 in region competition with victories over Eisenhower and Ft. LeBoeuf on Tuesday. Hannah Smrcka was the overall girls winner with a time of 23:27. Corry narrowly defeated Ft. LeBoeuf 27 to 30 and dominated Eisenhower 15 to 49. I was a little worried about whether or not we could beat Ft. LeBoeuf, because they ran a great race and had girls in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Thankfully, we had the next five runners in with Lexy Hasbrouck (25:02), Mallory Jaquith (25:04), Kalista Linden (25:06), Nikki Orton (25:20), and Anna Long (25:22) finishing in 5th through 9th place respectively. The boys team notched their second victory of the season over Ft. LeBoeuf 25 to 32, but they lost to Eisenhower 30 to 26. DJ Stine (3rd place, 20:57) and Paul Weber (5th place, 21:36) once again led the way for the Beavers. Chase Suchar (9th place, 22:08), Skyler Kressler (11th place, 22:15), Dustin Seth (12th place, 22:29), and Tim Kerr (13th place, 22:31) all ran solid races in the tough conditions. The boys and girls middle school teams are now 4-2 in the region as they both defeated Eisenhower and both lost to Ft. LeBoeuf. Top performers for the boys were Stephen Brady (4th place, 10:13), Ryan Webb (8th place, 10:55), Devin Pierce (9th place, 10:56), Pierce Sutton (11th place, 11:04), and Fabian Fourspring (12th place, 11:18). Top runners for the middle school girls were Haeleigh Bayle (3rd place, 11:58), Gwen Adams (4th place, 12:06), Teya Bailey (5th place, 12:07), Peyton Wilkinson (10th place, 12:43), and Taylor Moats (12th place, 13:09).
