BRYAN GEEHRER NAMED PSAC WMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Edinboro University’s Bryan Geehrer (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) has been named the PSAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his performance this past Saturday in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational.

Edinboro swept the conference awards, with Hope Pietrocarlo receiving the award on the women’s side. This marks the second time this year Edinboro has won both awards. On September 11, Stefanie Parsons was the women’s recipient and Jared Hallow earned the men’s honor.

The Loyola Lakefront Invitational featured a field dominated by top runners from Division I and other top programs. A redshirt sophomore, Geehrer paced Edinboro’s runners across the finish line, placing 47th overall and 45th in the team scoring. He covered the 8K course in a time of 25:14.45.

Edinboro, ranked 21st in the latest USTFCCCA Division II Top 25, would go on to place 17th out of 26 teams in the prestigious event. Grand Valley State, ranked third in Division II, captured first place, with McMaster placing second and Nebraska third. Arizona came in fourth and Texas A&M fifth.

The Fighting Scots will return to action on Saturday, October 20 competing in the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Pittsburgh. The race will be hosted by Slippery Rock and run on the same course as the Atlantic Regional and NCAA Division II National Championships at Schenley Park.
