NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the second consecutive week, the Edinboro women’s cross country team is ranked 14th in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches’ Poll. The Fighting Scots are also one of six teams to remain in the same spot from last week’s poll.
The Fighting Scots competed over the weekend in the highly competitive Loyola Lakefront Invitational over the weekend. Edinboro finished 17th among 33 teams in a field featuring many Division I programs from across the country.
In the national poll, which was released on Wednesday, Adams State was atop the rankings, followed by Grand Valley State, who finished second at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. Western State fell from a tie for second to third. U-Mary remains fourth and Colorado Mines leaped three spots to fifth.
Edinboro is the lone team in the PSAC ranked in the top 25. Shippensburg is one of three teams “also receiving votes”.
The Fighting Scots and Shippensburg were first and second, respectively, in the Atlantic Region rankings. Kutztown moved up a spot to third, while Seton Hill climbed three spots from seventh to fourth. West Chester fell two spots to fifth.
Edinboro will return to action on Saturday, October 20, competing in the Rock Pre-Nationals hosted by Slippery Rock in Pittsburgh. It will be run on the same course that the Atlantic Regional and NCAA Division II National Championships will be run on.
