Corry Wrestling

Well that is 2 years in a row.  The Corry Beavers wrestling team took down the mighty bison.  Corry 40 FLB 34.  We won 7 of the 13 contested matches and 8 of the 14 with the forfeit.

The win tonight was a true team effort.  Tonight is all about what I have been saying all season.  Managing bonus points effectively.  We did that just a little better that LeBoeuf did tonight.  In wins and losses our kids did what they needed to do.  I am so proud of our boys tonight.
There were several great bout tonight but there were a few that stood out.  Damion Kinney almost got pinned in the first 30 seconds of his match and fought back and ended up pinning a tough JT Ploss with his bundle machine.  Austin Sacchetti absolutely wore Josh McCall down and pull out a stunning 5-2 victory.  That was a huge win for us.  Then Matt Petrilla went 3 tough periods with the #1 ranked kid in the state.  He lost 11-3 but by hanging in there he minimized their team points to only 4.  Again, big.  Then Hayden Linkerhof beat the #6 ranked kid in the district Tim Church by a score of 11-5.  That win put us close enough that with a couple of pins out of our big boys we claimed victory for the second time in as many years.
Luke Munsee and Kayden Reyda started the night with 2 wins.  Luke made short work of Adam Johnson by picking up a pin a short way into the second period.  Kayden then followed up with a nice win over Andie Przybycien.
We had some other wrestlers in the middle that wrestled hard but came up on the short end of the match.  It was nice to get Derek Hurd back in the line up and he did a nice job against very tough Jacob Cornelius but ended falling by a pin, but was wrestling well.
There was a great crowd present for both teams and with the chants of the cheerleaders from both teams and the roar of the crowd made for a great environment tonight.  Nights like this make great memories for all.  Thanks to all our fans who made it out tonight.  It was also fun having our youth program in action opening the night against the bison little gridder program.  It was a good night for the sport this evening.
We will take on Eisenhower tomorrow night home.

We wrestled to a 72 to 9 win over the visiting Eagles.  Unfortunately Youngsville is battling number problems and could only fill a partial line up tonight.  We only contested 6 of the 14 weight classes.  Of those 6 contested matches we won 4 of them.  Winning tonight for the Beavers were Austin Sacchetti, Dylan Gourley, Matt Petrilla and Hayden Linkerhof.  I thought our 4 winners all looked pretty good tonight winning by fall.  It was nice to see Dylan Gourley back in the line up.  He looked hungry getting a quick pin in the 1st period.  Both Matt Petrilla and Hayden Linkerhof wrestled aggressive matches coasting to pretty easy wins.  Austin Sacchetti only lead 2-0 after the 1st period before pinning his opponent a short way into the 2nd period.  Damion Kinney and Xavier Reyda both ended on the short end of the scoreboard as they wrestled tough opponents. Winning by no contest tonight were Lucas Munsee, Kayden Reyda, Lucas Peterson, Hunter Savitz, Bradon Sutton, Brady Steele and Shawn Proctor.  We will be in action again this Saturday at the Bo Wood Memorial Tournament in Indiana Pennsylvania.  We will visit Cambridge Springs next Wednesday.
