The Corry Beavers Swim Team was back in the water Thursday night as they traveled to Girard to take on the Yellowjackets in Region 2 action. Five boy’s combined for 10 of the Beaver’s first place finishes as they rolled to a convincing 99-68 victory to move to 2-2 in the Region. The Lady Beavers dropped their fourth straight, falling to the Lady Jackets by a score of 115-32.
The Boy’s won all but one event in their decisive victory. They completed a sweep, winning all three relay events including a 1-2 finish in the event, the 400 freestyle relay.

Lesher won the 200 Individual Medley and 100 backstroke and was also a part of the winning 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays. Goode earned an individual victory, winning the 100 freestyle and was a part of both winning 200 Medley and 400 freestyle relays. He was also 2nd in the 100 backstroke, just behind Lesher. Ehrhart was a part of all three winning relays while adding a 2nd place finish in the 50 freestyle. Ahl was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay and 2nd place 400 freestyle relay. He also added a pair of 3rd place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM. Derrick Albers contributed to the 2nd place 400 freestyle relay and added a 2nd place finish of his own in the 500 freestyle. He was also 3rd in the 100 breaststroke and was a part of the 4th place 200 freestyle relay. Steel Fuller was 6th in the 50 freestyle and helped the boys to a 4th place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
“Our boy’s lineup is starting to click at the right time”, said Coach Gerould. “All three freshmen continue to impress and follow the lead of our seasoned upperclassmen. Nathan Lesher has really proved himself as one of the premier backstrokers in all of Region 2 while Zach Ahl and Derrick Albers each add some versatility to our stout lineup and are able to swim out of their comfort-zone when needed.”
For the Girl’s, Bethany Anderson led the Lady Beavers with a win in the 100 backstroke and added a 3rd place finish in the 200 IM. McKenzie Mitchell was runner up with a 2nd place finish in the 50 freestyle and was 3rd in the 100 freestyle. Hannah Reed added a pair of 3rd place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Katie Reed threw in a pair of 4th place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles. All four girls combined for a 2nd place finish in the 200 freestyle relay and a 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. “Our girl’s numbers really hold us back from scoring enough points to compete with most teams in our region” Gerould mentioned. “I was extremely pleased with their efforts tonight” he added. “Their score did not serve them justice as to how good they swam.”
