MICHIGAN STANDOUT RANA ELHUSSEINI SIGNS WITH EDINBORO

EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro University women’s basketball coach Callie Wheeler has
announced the signing of Rana Elhusseini to a national letter of intent. Elhusseini is currently a
senior at Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan.
“I am extremely excited about Rana joining our Fighting Scot Family,” related Wheeler. “She is
one of the best playmakers I have seen throughout my coaching career here at Edinboro. Her
ability to create for herself and her teammates will have an immediate impact on our team next
season. She is an outstanding addition to our Women’s Basketball Program.”
Elhusseini is a 5’4” guard who led Fordson High School to a 23-3 finish a year ago under head
coach Sal Abazeed. The Tractors reached the Class AA regional semifinal before losing to
Renaissance. They claimed the program’s first district championship since 1999. Elhusseini
earned Associated Press Class A All-State honorable mention recognition after averaging 16
points and 8.3 assists per game, along with 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game.
Fordson currently has an 11-6 record, with Elhusseini enjoying another outstanding season.
She has been rated as one of the top 100 players in Michigan. Earlier in the year, she became
Fordson’s all-time leading scorer when she scored 32 points against rival Dearborn High School
to break Yazmeen Hamid’s school record of 1,152 points. She also had a 31-point effort against
Livonia Churchill.
Fordson head coach Abazeed noted after Elhusseini broke the school’s career scoring record
that, “She’s been an outstanding player. A huge contribution that she’s made to the school
these four years. One of the best players in that state that no one’s really talking about, which is
a whole other conversation. She’s been doing special things for a long time, and that’s a record
that’s probably not going to be broken for a very long time.”
Elhusseini has also excelled as a member of the Factory Basketball Orange Elite Girls Travel
Basketball Team.
